Brick & Dirt

This week has been spent moving dirt.  The future yard looks fantastic so far.  We can see the outline of the future walkway from the driveway to the front door.  The backyard is fairly flat, sloping toward the rear of the yard to assist with drainage.  And brick was delivered.  I think this is probably the brick that will be used to wrap around the exposed exterior basement walls.  This development does a top to bottom brick wrap, so there will be no exposed cement.  The house a few lots down got their roof this week and we're still waiting for them to start excavating the lot next door.  Here are some pics...

Waterproof

The basement walls were wrapped yesterday with the waterproof material.  The plan is to start filling in the space around the house with dirt next week.  Lumber should be delivered by week's end and the carpenter is scheduled to arrive early the following week.  So we're looking at framing the week of June 4th.  This is pretty exciting!

Footers

We had to head out toward the house last night, so we decided to drive a little further and take a look at the footers.  The house two lots down is in the process of being framed, so that was pretty cool to see.  Here are some footer pics.

We've Got A Hole - Day 4

They started working on the house on Wednesday, and as of today, there's a giant hole just waiting for some footers.  The plan is to do the footers on Monday and the basement walls on Wednesday.  Everything seems to be moving along quite nicely!

We've Been Staked

The lot has been staked for a couple of weeks now, and as far as we know, groundbreaking should occur somewhere between the 16th and 22nd.  The lot is 1/2 acre and the house will be set about 70 feet back from the street, and elevated quite a bit.  The pictures don't do it justice, but there is potential for a nice view from the lot - at least until construction starts occurring across the street.

Furniture!!!

We went shopping this week and purchased some things for the family room and the sitting room in the front of the house.  The sitting room chaise doesn't look quite right below.  It's actually a really nice shade of gray with white and black threads throughout.  The family room leather sofa and chair will be brown (not the red pictured in the chair photo).

As for the house, they are expected to break ground mid-month, so just another week or two and the house will start sprouting up!
